Title IX Commitment and Policy

Dear Volunteer community,

As we begin the new academic year, I want to welcome you. My name is Ashley Blamey, and I serve as the Title IX coordinator. The Office of Title IX works to ensure access to educational programs and activities free of sex-based discrimination.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX—the federal law passed in 1972 that bars federally funded institutions from discriminating on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities. As we celebrate this great landmark, we are reminded that the opportunity for equity in access benefits us all.

We are working toward an informed and engaged community. You are part of the solution.

I encourage everyone to review the 2022–23 Policy on Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Dating and Domestic Violence, and Stalking.

I also invite you to join the Office of Title IX on September 21 for our annual town hall. We will update you on proposed new Title IX regulations, review the findings of last spring’s Vol Voices survey, and highlight campus and community resources.

Finally, I ask you to ACT—Acknowledge the situation, Consider your options, and Take action. To register for Vols ACT training or learn more about related programs and activities, visit our training and events page.

Our door remains open year round to your ideas, suggestions, questions, and concerns.

I look forward to working with you.

Ashley Blamey
