The University of Tennessee Title IX model provides a comprehensive community approach to the institution’s Title IX responsibility. Under the direction of the Title IX Coordinator, the Title IX team members, housed in critical areas across campus, work collaboratively to educate the campus community, prevent incidents, support those in need, and address Title IX–related concerns.
The Title IX team consists of the Title IX Coordinator, Deputy Title IX Coordinators, and investigators.

The University’s Title IX Coordinator reports directly to the Chancellor and is responsible for coordinating university efforts to comply with and carry out our responsibilities under Title IX, including promptly, thoroughly, and equitably investigating and resolving reports of prohibited conduct to eliminate prohibited conduct, prevent its recurrence, and remedy its effects.
Reports or complaints of prohibited conduct or any other kind of sex discrimination, or questions about the university’s policies, procedures, resources, or programs concerning any of those issues, may be directed to the Title IX Coordinator or other Title IX officials, who are trained and accessible to members of the university community for consultation and assistance. Ashley is also a member of the University’s Commission for Women.

The Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Prevention, Training, and Evaluation reports directly to the Title IX Coordinator and provides oversight of all student, faculty, and staff prevention, training and evaluation related to Title IX. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator works closely with students, faculty, and staff who have been accused of prohibited conduct to offer care and support, while providing supportive measures to ensure the safety of those involved, as well as the campus community. Laura is also a member of the University’s Commission for LGBT People and serves on the Equity & Climate Subcommittee.

The Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Law Enforcement and Clery Compliance monitors and ensures Clery Act compliance at the university and is also responsible for preparing, publishing, and distributing the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. She is also responsible for identifying and training institutional campus security authorities, gathering crime and disciplinary referral data from various internal and external sources, and submitting the university’s annual crime statistics to the US Department of Education.

The Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Intercollegiate Athletics reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor and Director of Athletics. She assists with compliance efforts regarding gender equity in Athletics, assists with the creation and implementation of the Athletics Prevention Plan, and receives reports of sex discrimination and sexual misconduct. She also provides information to student-athletes, coaches, and other athletics staff about Title IX to help raise awareness about sexual misconduct and its prevention.
