On August 7, the Office of Title IX hosted a virtual town hall at noon to share the final 2020–21 Policy on Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Dating and Domestic Violence, and Stalking with our campus community.
During the town hall, Title IX Coordinator, Ashley Blamey reviewed how the University of Tennessee has worked to incorporate the regulatory requirements and respond to the needs and expectations of our UT community since the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights issued new regulations mandating how colleges and universities address cases under Title IX, a federal statute that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity on May 6. The presentation introduced participants to the final 2020–21 Policy on Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Dating and Domestic Violence, and Stalking and allowed participants to engage with a question-and-answer session with the Title IX coordinator.
The new regulations will become effective nationwide on August 14.
Moving forward into the 2020–21 academic year, the Office of Title IX remains committed to you and your safety. We encourage you to review the presentation and to reach out with questions or concerns.
